Hi lovely people! I’m Lara, designer and creator.
I am a self taught artist based in Sydney, Australia. After discovering surface pattern design and hand lettering in 2013 I have been on a journey to create beautiful designs that uplift, inspire and encourage. One of my favourite quotes comes from artist Theaster Gates, “I believe that beauty is a basic service”. My belief that beauty is good for the soul underlines the care and intention that goes into my work.
Having done my Bachelor of Science years ago, it took me a long time to have the epiphany that I’m a creative who loves environmental science and the natural world, and not a scientist who makes art. A year in entomology cemented my fascination with insects, often I hide a little damselfly in my designs.
I enjoy creating art with intricate details, drawing inspiration from the botanical world and bygone eras.
